The Welsh Regiment was an infantry regiment of the British army from 1881 until 1969, when it amalgamated with the South Wales Borderers to form the Royal Regiment of Wales.
Until 1920 it was called the Welsh Regiment. After that the name was changed to the archaic spelling: The Welch Regiment
