Black leather sword knot
The braking system of this sword knot is quite unique. Most knots have their main strap sewn together and the tassel drawn and sewn around it. This knot instead has a button loop cut into one end of the strap. The strap is pushed through the tassle. Then several strands of tassels are threaded thru the button hole. Then the strap is pulled back in line until the tassel threads lock. This serves as a reasonably tight strap that will break away under heavy load instead of dismounting the caught rider.
