Original Meritorious Unit Commendation patch
The Meritorious Unit Commendation was established in 1944.
It was awarded to units of the US and Allied forces for the exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services for at least 6 months during the period of military operations against an armed enemy.
It was worn centered on the outside half of the right sleeve with the lower half of the insignia four inches above the end of the sleeve.
